exam

For my exam i decided I was going to focus on the subject of the sequence of movement. I started by looking at Muybridge's photos and i took some of my own Muybridge style photos.
I then started looking at Boccioni's sculptures and decided to make a sequence of clay sculpture in the style of Boccioni's "Unique Forms of Continuity in Space".

in started to practice with clay and made some small sculptures which were made to look like they were moving, i also made a clay relief.

I then made my final piece. I would of liked to have made another one but there wasn't enough time and also i would of liked to of fired and finished them but i didn't want to risk them breaking in the kiln.

For my second project I decided to do sculpture. I started by looking at clay heads and made a clay head sculpture myself.

I then started looking at giacometti and made some small sculptures similar to giacometti's using a wire frame and modroc.

After this I made a human sized Giacometti sculpture from a wire frame and sheets soaked in plaster which i didn't manage to finish.

first project

For my first project i decided to focus on faces and emotion in faces. I started by taking photos of peoples faces with a spotlight to add effect.

I then chose one of the photos and tried using different materials to draw and paint with and see what material I would like to use on my final piece. I tried oil pastel, soft pastel and oil paint.

I eventually decided to use oil paint because I'd never used it for a main piece before and i liked the way it blended.

I think it turned out ok but I didn't manage to finish it and I think it would be better with some colour.
